Tips for Submitting Non-SDG&E Forms

For your convenience, SDG&E allows Third Parties to submit Letters of Agreement (LOAs) other than SDG&E’s Standard CISR form and CISR-DRP form. The non-SDG&E forms are also known as Non-Standard LOAs. Here are some basic guidelines to make it easier to submit Non-Standard LOAs and avoid delays in processing.

Non-Standard LOA Forms must be on one of the below:

  • Company letter head
  • Lease agreement
  • Property management agreement

The Non-Standard Letter of Authorization form must include all the following information to allow SDG&E to process a request:

  • Customer of Record Name
  • Customer service account numbers(s), address and city
  • The information Customer is authorizing the Third Party to have (see below for information types)
  • Letter of Authorization must be fully executed and signed by all the appropriate parties (Customer and Third Party)
  • Timeframe of the authorization (indefinite until revocation is acceptable, if specified)

A Non-Standard Letter of Authorization must include the specific information the customer is authorizing the Third Party to obtain, modify or act upon. Examples include:

  • Billing records, billing history and meter usage data. By default, SDG&E will send the last 12 months of data to the Third Party unless a time period is specified
  • EPA Benchmarking (authorizes individual building energy usage to be uploaded to the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®)
  • Copies of correspondence in connection with the Customer’s account(s)
  • Investigation of the Customer’s utility bill(s)
  • Special metering and the right to access interval usage and other metering data on the Customer’s account(s)
  • Rate analysis or rate changes
  • Verification of balances on the Customer’s account(s) and discontinuance notices

How to Submit Your Non-Standard LOA form

Please have the following information available at the time of your LOA submission.

  • First and last name
  • Organization name
  • Organization title
  • Mailing address
  • Email address
  • Date Non-Standard LOA was signed/executed

Submission Steps

  1. Go to sdge.com/LOA. Click on I’ve already filled out an LOA

  2. When prompted to respond to the question, Does your form look like this? select No.

Leadtime for Non-Standard LOA Processing

Non-Standard LOAs require manual validation from SDG&E Agents. That means processing times will be greater compared to the SDG&E Standard LOA form. Processing time may also be dependent on the level of complexity of the Non-Standard LOA. Also, if the Non-Standard LOA does not include the required information above, the LOA will be rejected and a new submission will be required.
